We have just finished the VML training Jan 2025 in Romania, started PT with the Taiwan training and started a new VML training Feb 2026 in Romania. 2. VML and MDT are to be presented in EPA conference in Prague with 5 presentations in one week 😊 3. MDT/HOL training 13 May 2026, Romania. You are invited to take part in the second MDT/HOL training Come and learn about the MDT method - practicing therapy in a multi-dimensional way using the MDT system. With in the MDT training we will emphasize the HOL method - learning how to work with language delay using the HOL structure and tools. You can take the complete training with both methods or focus on HOL solely. VML innovations - Speech data score formula. As part of speech research done in the Academia Octopus we have developed a formula to calculate accurately the final score of the motor speech data. The goal of the formula is to set as accurately as possible a final score for the motor speech skill by assessing the 3 domains – pre-verbal (PV), single syllable production (SSP) and word structures. Scoring is given using the VML assessment tool and calculated based on that. Max PV score is 42 points, Max SSP score is 387 points and Max words structures score is 30 points. Areas contribution to the final score: The contribution of each section to final score is not equal since the number of items is different and the importance/influence on speech skill is different. SSP is the main body of motor patterns hence were given approx. 75% contribution. According to that, each percentile unit equals approx. 5 points. PV skills were given 5% of the total effect. Reasoning – if there is only PV skills at full score and SSP=0 and words=0, then I would give 5%. Therefore ,the score then needs to be divided by 1.5 to get to 28 maximal points (42/1.5=28 , so each percentile equals 28/5= 5.2 points approx). The words section takes 20-22% so the score need to be multiplied by 3.5 to get 105 maximal points (105/20=5.1 points per percentile). These are the adaptations needed in order to hold the ratio 5/75/20 between the three domains. Using this formula can help to determine with good accuracy the global motor speech level. To all VML therapists, trainees at all levels, and parents. VML is growing in Romania and the demand for therapy is everywhere. We try to train as much as we can so more therapists and parents acquire the knowledge, however, people are using it sometimes in the wrong way, misleading the families and providing the wrong service. Unqualified therapists advertise themselves as vml therapists . Parents, ask for a certificate! Trainees declare they are doing evaluations and supply therapy. You are not there yet, modesty. Keep learning, practice the VML but don't come out with expert declaration. You are far from it. Wrong definitions of the VML method as a language and communication treatment, or a therapy for Autism and such. VML method treats the motor aspect of speech ONLY and can affect later language and communication development. VML is NOT promoting receptive language. Not. VML Trainees and therapists deliver presentations about VML. Not a bad thing, BUT, contact us before to help you with that. Don't deliver wrong information. To summarize - we encourage the use of the VML method in various levels, it is not always accurate, I can accept that, however, be modest, it is not a marketing tool for a therapist. Commit to the professionalism not selling. Keep learning and improve your knowledge. Don't declare of what you are not. Be modest with your professional growth. Parents - pay attention to the certificate, learning process of the therapist and contact us if necessary. There are lots of good therapists out there but also imposters.
